Research group description
Global environmental change, in particular climate change, affects health of most populations either directly or indirectly. CERH applies multidisciplinary, complementary research methodologies to empirically evaluate the impact of the most relevant environmental factors, such as extreme temperatures, air pollution, and housing factors on public health.
The research provides insight into mechanisms, clinical significance, susceptibility -related factors and long-term influence of global environmental change on human health. This enables making of predictions for future public health impacts, as well as developing mitigation measures for reducing or preventing adverse health effects related to environmental change at the global scale.
Our goal is to assess the health impact and burden of disease from exposures to global environmental change. Our ground-breaking approach applies multidisciplinary research methodologies through nationwide population, register, controlled and clinical studies and synthesize the evidence applying meta-analyses and burden of disease assessment for global utilization.
