The aim of the new Oulu Research Group on Violence, Crime and Well-being at the Faculty of Education and Psychology is to investigate the various effects of violence and crime on health and well-being and to improve societal responses to violence and crime.

Research group description
Violence and crime are socially significant but often under-recognized and under-researched themes. The research group’s goal is to generate new knowledge on these topics, particularly from the perspectives of clinical psychology and public health. These issues are approached comprehensively through various research methods and data to produce knowledge that can be utilized in the prevention and intervention of violence and crime. The research topics include:
- The prevalence and health effects of intimate partner violence
- The support needs of victims of intimate partner violence
- The health and well-being of prisoners
- Strategies and support for preventing and overcoming violence and criminal behavior
