Ali Mchayk

A Civil Engineer by training and heart. Years of working experience in the Mediterranean region, led me to Finland seeking different insights and perspectives. As a member of the Hydrosystems Engineering and Management research group, my focus lies in addressing hydropower-related challenges, with specific emphasis on mitigating hydropeaking along with its adverse impacts through the application of structural and operational measures.

Hydropower is a promising answer to the European energy transition towards clean energy. Designing new solutions and modes of operation that limit the negative ecological impacts of hydropower contributes to a secure power grid allowing for the rollout of wind and solar.
