I received master degree in biochemistry in 1998 from Kyiv Taras Shevchenko University (Ukraine). I went on to do PhD thesis in Georg-August University in Göttingen, Germany on the role of hypoxia and normoxia in the regulatuon of gene expression in liver (under supervision of Dr. Thomas Kietzmann and Prof. Kurt Jungermann; 2003). Later I worked as a researcher in Julius-Maximilians-University, Würzburg, Germany (till 2007) and as a senior researcher in Palladin Institute of Biochemistry, National Academy of Science of Ukraine in Kyiv. In 2010 I started to work in Oulu University, and joined Seppo Vainio's develpmental biology group in 2013. In Oulu I have been investigating kidney cancer and extracellular vesicles, especially effect of hypoxia on extracellular vesicles secretion. I have got degree of docent (adjunct professor) in biochemistry from Oulu University in 2017. Since 2019 I am responsible for the synthetic biology part of the Horizon 2020-FET Open collaborative project GLADIATOR: Novel Technologies for cancer monitoring and therapy (https://www.fet-gladiator.eu/).
