Antti Salo

I am a post-doc in Prof. Johanna Myllyharju's lab. My research interest is in extracellular matrix, post-translational modifications and biosynthesis of collagen. I primarily use genetically modified cell lines and mouse models to understand the mechanisms, functions and roles of the key enzymes, prolyl 4-hydroxylases, prolyl 3-hydroxylases, lysyl hydroxylases and collagen glycosyltransferases. These enzymes are also promising targets in fibrosis and in cancer. I have also strong interest in the role of hypoxia and it's role in regulation of extracellular matrix. I have also studied molecular basis of rare congenital diseases that arise in mutations in P4HA1 and PLOD3 genes.
