Short Bio

Harri received his M.Sc degree in applied physics from the University of Kuopio, Finland, in 1993 and PhD degree in wireless communications from the University of Oulu, Finland, in 2000. He has been with the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC) at the University of Oulu since 1994. Currently he is a university researcher and docent (adjunct professor).

His research interest cover remote area connectivity challenges and technology especially related to 6G, 5G and its applications, satellite communications, military radio systems, ad hoc networks, transceiver signal processing like signal detection, synchronization, array signal processing.

Project highlights: 6G Flagship concerning remote areas, EDA projects WOLF and MAENA concerning military ad hoc networks; SaT5G H2020 project concerning inclusion of NTN in 5G, Arctic remote area connectivity projects (AMCA and Arctic 5G Test Networks) funded by Interreg Nord and Lapin Liitto.

He is the chair of the IEEE Finland Section joint Communications and Information theory chapter and the thematic group on telecommunication in the University of Arctic. He has written several journal and conference publications. He was a member in Arctic Council's task force related to Arctic connectivity.
