Helena Ristaniemi
I’m a doctoral candidate at the Northern Rural Youth -project (discipline: history) and a member of the Northern Research Group for History of Childhood and Education. My dissertation focuses on the questions of the presence of history in the everyday life and the significance of (home) place in the lifepaths of youth in the Finnish Sámi Homeland (Sápmi). My study aims to produce knowledge about the life and special need of the northernmost youth. I’m intrigued by cross-generational interactions, new materialist theories, gender studies, and human-non-human relationships in the past and present.
