Hoang Nguyen
Ph.D.; Docent
Academy Research Fellow (Research Council of Finland)
Cements and alternative binders
Hoang Nguyen is an Academy Research Fellow funded by the Research Council of Finland (f.k.a Academy of Finland) at Fibre and Particle Engineering Research Unit, University of Oulu (Finland). He also holds a Docentship in Sustainable Alternative Cement with his research primarily focusing on construction and building materials.
Hoang's key areas of interest include sustainable cements, thermodynamic modelling, and the utilization of carbon and inorganic side streams. His academic journey began at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering (2013). He then pursued his M.Sc. from Doshisha University, Japan, graduating in 2016. In June 2020, he was conferred a Ph.D. degree from the University of Oulu with a thesis on ettringite-based cement using steel slag.
