I defended my dissertation on the Educational problems of competition - Virtues for the twentieth-first century 2017 at Tampere University. In 2019-2022 I conducted a research project on Kone Foundation grant on Ecosocial philosophy of education. I am publishing the main findings of this project in 2025 in a book Ekososiaalisen kasvatusfilosofian kysymyksiä (Questions on ecosocial philosophy of education, Vastapaino). In 2021, I was awarded the title of docent (associate professor in the English-speaking world) in social pedagogy, especially the ecosocial philosophy of education, from the University of Eastern Finland. My current research interests include different themes in educational thinking, including ethical, social, and ecological questions. I am also interested in environmental philosophy, environmental education, indigenous wisdom traditions, and other alternative traditions to Western worldviews. I have also studied questions of moral economy and contemplative pedagogy. Here, you can find an interview on why I became a scholar.
