Jari-Pekka Nousu
MSc in Environmental Engineering
Doctoral Researcher
Water, Energy and Environmental Engineering
Faculty of Technology
Nousu's research focuses on hydrological processes and their numerical modelling in the Arctic and other snow-influenced environments. He develops and operates models from point to catchment-scale and takes advantage of wide range of data sources from in-situ measurements and novel near-ground remote-sensing techniques to open geospatial datasets on landscape properties. The main objectives of his thesis is to improve the understanding of i) spatiotemporal dynamics of soil moisture, ii) energy flux exchanges between soil, forest, snowpack and the atmosphere, and iii) the spatiotemporal distribution of snow and frost.
