Juho Könnö
D.Sc. (Tech.)
Professor, Vehicle and Mobile Machinery Engineering
Powertrain engineering, model based systems engineering, virtual validation
Juho Könnö was born in 1985. He received M. Sc. (Tech.) and D. Sc. (Tech.) degrees in engineering mechanics from Helsinki University of Technology in 2007 and from Aalto University in 2011, respectively. From 2011 to 2021 he served in various roles in Wärtsilä Corporation, ranging from engine R&D to marine hybrid powertrain customer projects, mainly focusing on utilizing high-fidelity simulation models to create new business value. Current he is the professor for Vehicle and Mobile Machinery Engineering and the research group lead for the Machine and Vehicle Design group in Oulu University. His background is both in high-fidelity FE and MBD simulation, system simulation and integrating simulation tools into the product development process. His main interests are in mobile machine and power generation utilizing new zero-carbon technologies and smart controls for powertrain optimization both from the environmental and financial perspective.
