Julia Puputti
MSc
Project Researcher
I work as a Project Researcher for the Kerttu Saalasti Institute coordinated research centre Callio Lab. Current projects include the three-year H2020 Goldeneye-project, which is designed to develop digital solutions to improve the safety, profitability and environmental aspects of the mining industry. This EU-funded project is developing an artificial intelligence platform that will collect high-quality data from the entire mine using satellites, drone planes and local sensors.
I finished my M.Sc. studies in Space Physics at University of Oulu in 2022, and my Master’s thesis dealt with facilitation of scientific experiments in underground laboratories. The Callio Lab environment at the Pyhäsalmi mine is very familiar to me and I can be found on-site on a weekly basis.
I have over seven years of experience working in an industrial and underground environment, both as an electrician and automation technician for the mining company and as a research assistant and project engineer at the Pyhäsalmi mine. I have diverse practical experience, and when combined with the scientific expertise strengthened by the University of Oulu, I know I have the capabilities to work successfully in challenging project environments.
