Jussi Malila
PhD, docent
University lecturer
Atmospheric physics, atmospheric aerosols
My background is in studies of atmospheric aerosol particles. At large, my research is focused on phase transitions of aerosol particles, and I have studied formation of new particles in the atmosphere, phases of atmospheric fine particles, as well as most recently activation of aerosol particles into cloud droplets. Central to my work is to understand how different processes affect fine particles, clouds and eventually to the climate. To accomplish this goal, I apply various thermodynamic, statistical and radiative transfer theories to model cloud processes. My teaching is also focused both on these atmospheric processes as well as on climate change as a multidisciplinary phenomenon.
Besides working as an university teacher, I am also an organic farmer and a beekeeper.
