Katharina Kujala

I am an environmental microbiologist and an Academy Research Fellow in the Water, Energy and Environmental Engineering Research Unit. I am a Docent in Applied and Environmental Microbiology and currently (co-)supervising 5 PhD students that are working on different topics in the field. My research interests lie in microbial ecology of (sub)arctic ecosystems, microbial processes involved in the cycling of metals and metalloids, monitoring of microbial communities in soil and water, as well as applied topics such as microbial wastewater treatment, degradation of emerging pollutants and bioremediation of mining waste.
