Maiju Ylönen

I have a background in geography and combining spatial data and GIS-based solutions in environmental research, particularly in fluvial and boreal areas.

My current research as a PhD is focused on the digitalization of catchment-scale snow monitoring in boreal landscapes. I aim to develop novel methods using UAV Lidar and distributed temperature measurements to monitor snow depth, snow water content and soil frost. By integrating innovative techniques and machine learning, my research will provide important insights into the complex interactions between snow processes, soil frost and catchment hydrology.
