Rajaram Venkatesan

After receiving my PhD in the field of structural biology at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India in 2007, I joined Prof. Rik Wierenga's group as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oulu. I started my own research group as an Academy of Finland Research Fellow (2015-2020) at the Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, University of Oulu and now continue as a Senior Research Fellow.

My research focuses on understanding the structure and function of molecular machines involved in lipid metabolism and lipid transport, especially in the human pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis. I teach on topics related to protein chemistry, enzymology and structural biology.
