Roohallah Surki Aliabad
MSc
Doctoral Researcher
Steels, Advanced High Strength Steels, Microstructures, Physical Metallurgy
Roohallah is currently a PhD researcher at Oulu University, with a previous Master's degree in materials science from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in Iran. He has also gained valuable experience in the industrial sector since 2013, working primarily in quality control and laboratory roles.
As a materials researcher, his work focuses on understanding the impact of microscopic microstructure on the mechanical properties of materials. His expertise lies in the development and implementation of research tools, as well as data analysis and interpretation. His ultimate aim is to contribute to the development of modern steels that have a positive impact on people's lives.
His research interests lie in the field of steels, with a particular focus on
- Phase transformations
- Study of microscopic features using in-situ and ex-situ techniques.
- Hydrogen embrittlement
- Strengthening mechanisms
He has a keen interest in advanced high-strength steels and have already gained valuable experience working with nano-grained stainless steels and quench and partitioning steels. Currently, his focus is on researching medium Mn steels.
Research interests
- Medium manganese steels
- Advanced high strength steels
- materials characterisation
