Sadia Tanweer
Sadia is a PhD student in the group of Associate professor Daniela Bezuidenhout. Her work focuses on the synthesis of mesoionic carbene (MIC) complexes of the first row transition metal, manganese, for the activation of small synthetically relevant molecules with enthalpically strong bonds . The complexes comprise of MIC ligands that can display non-innocent behaviour and will be investigated for the hydrogenation and hydroelementation reactions of carbon dioxide and various other unsaturated hydrocarbons.
The finality of her research is exploiting the newly discovered activation processes to design mediated and catalysed chemical transformations.
