Shilpa Lingaiah

I am a post-doctoral researcher in the Research Unit of Clinical Medicine, Medical Research Centre, Oulu. I have a clinical training in medicine with a PhD in Medicine. My doctoral thesis focused on skeletal and metabolic health in polycystic ovary syndrome.

My current research focuses on the long-term health implications of gestational diabetes. I am working on the clinical follow-up study of the Finnish Gestational Diabetes (FinnGeDi) cohort. The purpose of this study is to map the health status of women with gestational diabetes 11–15 years after delivery, with special emphasis on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and cardiometabolic health, and to identify women at the highest risk of subsequent morbidity.
