I am University researcher, doing my research in molecular medicine, especially in obesity, metabolic disorders, and studying the role of FTO in adipogenesis and obesity. I am experienced in integrating molecular insights with health behaviour change interventions, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and digital health solutions. I have contributed to long-term studies on weight management and the impact of persuasive systems design. I want to translate molecular research into practical health innovations.
Current research project Ultrasense: Ultra-sound combined with bioelectrical impedance analysis and graphene field effect transistor-enhanced wearable sensing for decentralized health monitoring. This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme under grant agreement No 101130192.
I'm also a coordinator for the 6th profiling theme of the University of Oulu, called 6GESS. It is an interdisciplinary strategic profiling theme funded by the Academy of Finland. It includes Faculties of Medicine, Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, and Oulu Business School. My personal topics of interests in addition to digital health include metabolic syndrome, obesity/adipose tissue, HDL-cholesterol, cardiovascular diseases.
