I study health care education and the competence of health care educators in clinical nursing environment. The competence of health care educators is emphasized as the need for committed health care professionals who meet the competence requirements of the field increases, e.g. as demographics and treatment recommendations change. I have studied the competence of clinical nurse educators in Finnish university hospitals, as their competence as part of national health care education has not been previously studied. The competence and role of clinical nurse educators should be clarified and strengthened as part of the national health care education.
