Vili Lähteenmäki

I mainly work on topics in the philosophy of mind and self in early modern philosophy. I have research interests also in metaphysics, epistemology, and historiography of philosophy.

Before joining University of Oulu in 2021 I have worked at University of Jyväskylä and University of Helsinki. I have held visiting appointments at Humboldt University of Berlin, University of Queensland, and twice at Harvard University (2019 and 2024).

At the moment I am the director of an Academy of Finland project Thick Subjects: A Reconsideration of Early Modern Views of the Self (2020-25). I was an Academy of Finland Research Fellow (2017-22).
