A solid foundation for the future careers
Anusha completed her Computer Science and Engineering bachelor's degree at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Before arriving in Oulu, Anusha worked in the Sri Lankan software industry for over three years.
"When I searched for universities to pursue my higher studies, I found the past student's experience on the master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering." Anusha further mentions that she was impressed by the University of Oulu's reputation and research background. "Those encouraged me to apply to the University of Oulu," Anusha adds.
Excellent theoretical and practical exposure
"Due to the covid pandemic back in 2020, I had to face many new challenges during my study period," Anusha mentions. Anusha completed all the modules using online learning methods, including the exams. "The lecturers, teaching assistants, and other staff members help make it easier," Anusha adds.
Anusha always wanted to study deeply about AI (Artificial Intelligence), and she thought the University of Oulu was the best place for that. "AI involves in our day-to-day life, and I am excited about it," Anusha adds.
"The Computer Science and Engineering master's programme provides both theoretical and practical experience. It is very important for our future careers."
During the programme for one of her modules, Anusha implemented a Generative Adversarial Network that generates fake anime faces. That inspired her to write a technical blog on a medium platform.
A peaceful country with a relaxing nature
Anusha grew up in a city called Galle, located on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka. Then she moved to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, to continue her studies and work.
"After arriving in Oulu, everything went smoothly, and I was lucky enough to catch the northern lights: that was a memorable moment in my life."
As a friendly person who loves to travel, Anusha loves that Finland is a quiet and peaceful country with a relaxing nature. Currently, Anusha is in her final year of studies and hopes to finalise her master's thesis soon.
