Word lists and dictionaires are needed in courses. Google translator is a good support but it often does not provide an accurate translation and the result it creates may end up being hilarious or at the least, pretty funny. :) The result may also be totally confusing and incomprehensible. You might end up getting the gist of the text but that is all. You have probably realized that one word can have many meanings depending on the context. For example the word aine (topic) can be medel, ett ämne, en uppsats in Swedish. Du kan inte skriva ett medel eller städa med en uppsats!

When you listen to as many Swedish options as possible, you will become used to and well-practiced in understanding.
