Teachers, Teaching and Educational Communities

The strength of TTEC is diverse research expertise in the various fields of educational sciences, more specifically, in early childhood education, childhood studies, special education, music education, teacher education, and higher education. TTEC research consists of the following themes:

• professional development, expertise, and pedagogy of pre- and in-service teachers, including the focus on relations, identity, and emotions
• participation, belonging, inclusion, agency, and collaboration
• politics and values in education, including equity, social justice, diversity, and ethics
• multi-species education, human–nonhuman relations and environmental education
• institutional and educational policies and leadership
• arts and music education, playfulness, gamification, embodiment
• assessment and curriculum

In the future, TTEC will cultivate and further develop its strong methodological tradition in the use of narrative approaches as well as promote the new and innovative methodologies ranging from post-qualitative and participatory research approaches, including longitudinal, intervention, physiological in research.

TTEC’s publication strategy follows an Open science approach and Responsible research guidelines and also strongly encourages responsible use of metrics (DORA declaration). TTEC publishes in national and international high level scientific journals and books as well as in professional publication forums.

TTEC research maintains and advances high ethical (TENK), equal and sustainability standards in all stages of the research. TTEC is committed to promoting the UN SDGs (Agenda 2030) in its academic and everyday practices. Research topics and approaches already put a strong emphasis on the social and educational perspectives on sustainability with the aim of enhancing equality and well-being in an inclusive society.

TTEC research and publishing indicate strong evidence of promoting UN SDGs Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender equality (SDG (5), Reduced inequalities (SDG 10) and Peace, Justice, and strong institutions (SDG 16), and these foci will continue to be in the forefront of TTEC’s future research. Moreover, TTEC research will continue foregrounding the UN SDGs of Sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), Responsible production and consumption (SDG 12), Climate action (SDG 13) and Life below water and on land (SDGs 14 and 15).
