ITEE and sustainability
The world is facing critical challenges such as climate change, environmental degradation and inequality. Information and communication technologies (ICT) encompass almost all aspects of our lives from healthcare and education to buildings, energy, transportation and manufacturing. This is where ITEE’s graduates and researchers contribute – ICT plays a critical role in solving global problems that affect us all.
ICT empowers people through services, senses the environment to provide information for sustainable actions, and strengthens the world by developing technologies that are sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Our graduates and researchers develop ICT-based solutions that modernize manufacturing and power grids to improve efficiency and sustainability at lower cost, enable remote learning and healthcare possibilities, and develop materials for ICT that save energy and are environmentally friendly, to name a few. We enable global connectivity, digital public goods, inclusion and capacity-building, digital human rights, trust and security, and global digital cooperation.
Our graduates become specialists with skills to tackle global challenges by creating and applying ICT solutions for a more sustainable future. Read more about our study programs and research groups below.
