Translational cell biology core at Kontinkangas campus
Our mission is to provide comprehensive service and training for flow cytometric analysis and sorting. This includes instrumentation, technical support, and consultation. For high-throughput qualitative and quantitative imaging of living cells we provide you an Incucyte S3 equipment with several different applications. For bioenergetic cell profiling we have two SeaHorse XF instruments.
Flow cytometry is a technology that simultaneously measures and then analyzes multiple physical characteristics of single particles, usually cells, as they flow in a fluid stream through a beam of light. The properties measured include a particle’s relative size, relative granularity or internal complexity, and relative fluorescence intensity. These characteristics are determined using an optical-to-electronic coupling system that records how the cell or particle scatters incident laser light and emits fluorescence. Any suspended particle or cell from 0.5–150 micrometers in size is suitable for analysis. Cells from solid tissue must be disaggregated before analysis. Sorting allows us to capture and collect cells of interest for further analysis or cultivation. Once collected, the cells can be analyzed microscopically, biochemically, or functionally.
Imaging living cells provides real-time information about cell health, movement, morphology, and function. The equipment allows you to perform assays that are suitable for multiple cell types directly from the incubator whether you are growing cells for days, weeks, or months.
Gain real-time morphological and phenotypic information for pathway and mechanistic studies by capturing time- and cell-dependent therapeutic effects.
Whether you work with rare or expensive cell types (e.g., primary cells, stem cell cultures, patient-derived cells) or recombinant cell lines, Incucyte® Live-Cell applications allow quantification and validation of cell morphology and phenotype at all stages. performing cell maintenance, modification, and analysis with a variety of phenotypic cell-based assays.
The Agilent Seahorse XF platform measures the two main metabolic pathways, mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis, for live cells in real time, to provide functional kinetic measurements of cellular bioenergetics. Discover how bioenergetic parameters can provide powerful insights and can serve as an indicator for disease models, critical cell processes, and therapeutic discoveries.
