Overdue fees

• Course textbooks: 1€/item/day (max 10€/item)
• Overnight loans: 10€/item/day (max 10€/item)
• Other loans: 0 €, borrowing rights are suspended when 14 days overdue

Maximum overdue charges 50 €. Borrowing rights are suspended when item is 14 days overdue or unpaid fees 20 € or more.

Compensation for unreturned or damaged items

• Fee for each unreturned item 60 €
• Compensation for a lost book locker or book trolley key 10 €
• If the compensation fee is billed, the customer must also pay a processing fee for each bill 25 €

Material requested from other libraries

Interlibrary loan services to private customers and to units of the University of Oulu and Oulu University of Applied Sciences, as well as to the OSAO Kontinkangas unit (prices for libraries and corporate customers in brackets).

Loans

• From Finland, Scandinavia and the Baltic countries 10€/item (24€/item)
• From other countries 20€/item (34€/item)
• Interlibrary loans costing the library more than 30 euros according to costs incurred

Article copies

Loans and photocopies from the National Repository Library are free.

Please note:

• If a customer fails to pick up an item she has requested through the interlibrary service, she must pay the fee specified in the price list.
• If an interlibrary loan item is overdue, the customer must pay overdue/billing fees according to the prices set by the lending library.
• If the bill is paid by a unit of the University of Oulu, the customer must notify the library of the cost pool.

Finnish libraries

State and municipal libraries, libraries receiving government subsidies

• We deliver loans and photocopies on a reciprocal basis free of charge to libraries within the joint library network and to libraries of universities of applied sciences.

Other customers (e.g. businesses and other organizations)

• 15€/loaned item
• 15€/photocopy or PDF file
• Articles are delivered as PDF files whenever possible.

Libraries abroad

• Articles are delivered as PDF files whenever possible.
• We accept IFLA vouchers as payment.
• We deliver loans and photocopies on a reciprocal basis free of charge to some libraries abroad.

Staff and students of the University of Oulu

• free guidance to electronic reference and full text databases, printed resources etc.
• Instruction in the use of information resources for groups is also free of charge (up to one study point).

Non-university customers:

• Free initial guidance to the use of reference and full text databases, printed resources etc. (max 30 min.).
• If an information specialist performs a search the fee is 60€ per hour; minimum fee 30€.
• Instruction in the use of information resources for groups: 150€ per hour in the library, elsewhere by agreement.

If a search is paid by a department of the University of Oulu, the customer must notify the library of the cost pool.

• The service is free for faculties, departments and research groups of the University of Oulu.
• Free guidance to the staff and students of the University of Oulu.
• Fee for individual assignments 29 € per hour; minimum fee 14.50 €.
