Application period for a student representative for the UNIC Student Board open until 15.9.2024
In the University of Oulu students are represented by student representatives. They are also called hallopeds (from Finnish ”hallinnon opiskelijaedustaja”, which translates to student representative). A student representative is the voice of students in decision making. There are more than a hundred student representatives in the University of Oulu. They have in the University’s governance ranging from the Board of Directors to Degree Programme Committees.
We are now looking for a representative for the UNIC Student Board for a year-long term. The UNIC Student Board consists of student representatives from the ten universities of the university alliance, of which there are two for each university. The Student Board acts as the voice of the students at the European University. The Student Board meets twice a month remotely and two to four times a year on site. Student Board members are paid a remuneration 100€/month for 11 months. The position requires traveling, which is compensated by the university.
The Board of the Student Union of the University of Oulu names the student representatives in September and The representative term starts immediately. Eligible for the organ are those Student Union members who have left their application within the application period and have enrolled in the University of Oulu by 15.9.2024. Some of the applicants may be interviewed for the position.
The chosen representative must be present as a student at the University of Oulu and a member of OYY during their representative term. No previous experience is required but a good English skill is considered a plus. In the selection process, the Act on Equality between Women and Men (609/1986) is followed.
