Groups, workshops and events organized by Guidance Service

Groups, workshops and events are open to all University and University of Applied sciences students, no matter if you are starting your first year in Oulu or already closer to worklife. They are are lead and organized by our guidance services employes.

Study together

  • Come and study together! At group meetings, everyone promotes their own studies in the way they choose, for example by doing writing assignments or reading for an exam. You can join the meetings without registering. Please note that sometimes the group space may fill up. Bring to the meeting your work assignments and if you wish, snacks.
  • The group meets on Tuesdays from 12:00 to 14:00, if you wish you can stay in the space to study until 15:00. Fall Study Together meeting times: 10.9., 17.9., 24.9., 1.10., 8.10., 15.10., 29.10., 5.11., 12.11., 19.11., 26.11., 3.12. and 10.12.2024. Place: Timjami, Julinian Garden, Linnanmaa campus (note: 19.11. and 10.12. in Meirami, Julinian Garden). The group is organized by the guidance services employees.

Beat the procrastination workshop

  • Let's beat procrastination together in a workshop organised by study psychologists! The workshop will cover different tips and exercises to help you get things done, even when it feels difficult.
  • The workshop will take place on November 6, 2024 at 2-4 pm at the Linnanmaa campus. Sign up by sending an email: hanna-liisa.karsama@oulu.fi.
  • Workshop instructors: Study psychologist Hanna-Liisa Kärsämä and study psychologist trainee Marja Filatova.

Support for cultural adaptation

  • Moving abroad to live and study is a big transition that might affect you in unexpected ways. After the exciting start, you may notice that it is everything but easy to adjust yourself to the new environment and culture. You may also feel unbalanced and confused.
  • We welcome you to the Cultural Adaptation Support, where you can come and talk about your situation, as well as ask about and get support to your adaptation process. You may also meet other students who are going through the same thing as you.
