If you have been a student in a Moodle course during the year 2020 and this Moodle course has also been archived in year 2020 and you want to save your works you have produced during this Moodle course, see the instructions below, as Moodle courses archived in 2020 will be removed from the Moodle environment at the end of the year 2021:

The archiving process of Moodle courses:

The teacher determines how long a Moodle course is open/visible for students. After the course is completed, many teachers archive the Moodle course when all activities on the Moodle course have ended. After archiving, the Moodle course is switched to reading mode in the faculty archive category.

How to identify a Moodle course archived in 2020

On Moodle's Dashboard, in the course card of an archived Moodle course is marked the course start date after the course name. A Moodle course archived in 2020 the date mark begins with year 2020. On the front page of an archived Moodle course are watermarks with the word: ARCHIVE.

An automatic removal process for archived Moodle courses

University of Oulu has an automatic removal process for archived Moodle courses. Archived courses will be removed from Moodle at the end of the calendar year following the course end date (courses archived in 2020 will be removed at the end of 2021).

Saving your own works from an archived Moodle course

It is recommended to save your works in addition to a Moodle course also for example to your own workstation, memory stick or OneDrive etc. You can download and save the files you have submitted from the Moodle course to your own file storage. The texts or forum discussions you have written in a Moodle course, you can save by copying them (with the copy-paste function).

Student portfolio

If you want to create a ”portfolio” of all the works you have produced during your studies, you can create a portfolio by using for example O365 and G Suite services provided by the university of Oulu. If you want to use your works after your studies, you should choose a service to which you have an access also after your studies, for example Google Sites website service or WordPress blog service. There are also many other free blog, website and file storage services in the internet.
