The university board decided to open the search for vice-rectors

One position will be responsible for research, and the other for cooperation and innovation activities. The terms of office are five years, from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2030.

The rector will decide on the preparation group, whose task is to finalize the job announcements and decide on the detailed selection process, as well as prepare the rector's selection proposal for the board meeting in April 2025.

The University of Oulu has a total of three vice-rectors. The term of office of the vice-rector for education, Mirja Illikainen, continues until 28 February 2029.

The board of the University of Oulu appointed a group from among its members to prepare the selection of new members for the board of the University of Oulu Scholarship Foundation to replace the outgoing members. The group includes Mikko Ayub, Tua Huomo and Tiina Rajala. The group will present its proposal for the board's approval. The board selected BDO Oy as the auditing firm for the University of Oulu Scholarship Foundation for the year 2025.

The board decided on its annual calendar of activities and discussed the priorities and goals of the rector's first year of operation.

The board noted the financial committee's reporting. Marko Huttula was elected as a member of the financial committee for the term 29 January – 31 December 2025, replacing Johanna Uusimaa, who resigned from the board.

The board appointed the following board members to the steering group for the real estate strategy work: Mikko Ayub, Jukka Hiltunen, Pertti Korhonen, Lotta Pennala, Tiina Rajala, Janne Saarikivi, and Terhi Ruuska-Loewald.

In addition, the board noted the indicators and monitoring of the university's strategy and the agreement with the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Three new members started on the board this January: Terhi Ruuska-Loewald, Marko Huttula, and Pauli Väisänen.

After the meeting, the board met with the collegium of the University of Oulu.
