The University of Oulu ranks among the top 300 universities in the world – "The result is a reflection of the high-quality work of our staff"

In the national comparison, the University of Oulu secured a shared third place, following the University of Helsinki and Aalto University, in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE), which compares the best universities globally.

The University of Oulu ranked between 251–300 in the evaluation. This year, a total of ten Finnish universities received a ranking in the THE comparison.

Compared to last year's Times Higher Education results, the University of Oulu improved its position across all main categories: education, research environment, research quality, industry collaboration, and international outlook.

In the comparison, education accounts for about one-third of the weight and research for about two-thirds. The largest growth was seen in education.

"The result reflects the high-quality work of our staff. We will continue to develop to ensure that we remain competitive both internationally and nationally in the future," says University of Oulu Rector Jouko Niinimäki.

Around ten per cent of the ranking's weight comes from industry collaboration and international outlook, where significant growth was also noted.

Over 2,000 universities worldwide participated in the comparison. The universities rated as the best in the world were the UK's University of Oxford, and the US's MIT and Harvard.
