You can now borrow a kayak and take part in cleaning the Baltic Sea

Do you want to experience Oulu from the sea and do charity work at the same time? The Baltic Sea is one of the most polluted seas in the world, and the growing problem is human-caused littering. Change is in our hands, and it requires concrete actions.

Itämeri Plogging is a Finland-wide charity project that enables concrete cleaning of the Baltic Sea one kayak trip at a time. You have now an opportunity to see and experience the Baltic Sea in all its beauty and harshness.

Jouko Niinimäki, Rector of the University of Oulu, borrowed the cleaning kayak in June.

“I challenge our university community to take part in the voluntary work. Oulu river delta is beautiful and from the sea our city is seen in a whole new light. A trip with the cleaning kayak is a nice way to combine fun and benefit”, Niinimäki says.

Rector Jouko Niinimäki borrowed a cleaning kayak and visited near Oulu market square.

You can book the Oulu’s kayak at the homepage of Itämeri Plogging, where you will also find more information about the booking conditions.
