Research group description

The Postqualitative, Critical Posthumanist and New Materialist Collective is an international research group founded and run by Karin Murris with the help of research assistant George Rowley. Originally, funded as a research project by the National Research Foundation of South Africa (2021-2023), it has established itself as a lively community of researchers through its activities and its social media and Whatsapp communication channels. This interdisciplinary research network is a response to the need to care for the more-than-human in the Anthropocene, the reconfiguration of the concepts ‘human’ and ‘child’ in the postdigital age and the current push to decolonise (higher) education. The platform offers pedogagical resources, regular events, an on-line course (from Sept 2025), a Routledge book series, and a monthly posthumanist child studies forum.
