Doctoral Researcher
Physical geography
I am working as a doctoral researcher in the GeoBioArctic project, which aims to increase the understanding of geodiversity and to investigate its potential in biodiversity conservation. In the project we empirically examine how geodiversity affects plant species richness and its spatio-temporal changes. In my doctoral research, I am developing methods for measuring geodiversity and utilizing this information as part of biodiversity conservation.
I finished my Master of Science degree in geography at University of Oulu in 2023, specializing in physical geography. In my current position, I am deepening my research topic from my Master’s thesis, in which I studied the relationship between topographic heterogeneity and the diversity of arctic-alpine plants in the Kilpisjärvi area. My research methods included digital elevation modeling combined with statistical analysis. I am also a qualified teacher of geography and biology and have taught various geography courses at the university.
I have a diverse range of interests in the fields of geography. As a researcher, I am particularly fascinated by topics related to adaptation to climate change and conservation, as well as different green transition projects. I have also worked as a project researcher in the BIOTUTO project, which aims to promote sustainable biogas production.
