My research concentrates on the relationship between peatland vegetation and methane emissions. I aim to identify the main factors causing and regulating spatial differences in methane fluxes in northern fens by studying fine-scale variations in the plant communities. Combining the data of the fluxes and the vegetation with ecohydrological analysis, remote sensing and climate projection models, my goal is to upscale the local scale flux predictions and contribute to current research of climate change and its effects on the global carbon cycle.
