Dr. Hannu-Pekka Komsa is Assistant Professor (Tenure Track, started in 2020) in computational physics and nanomaterials. His research aims at advancing the understanding of how the material properties can be tuned by modifying its structure in the nanoscale, with special focus on defects and low-dimensional materials, with application prospects in novel electronics components (including neuromorphic computing) and smart materials for sensing. Another main theme is modeling the materials’ response to external stimuli such as light or electron irradiation, to aid in material characterization by experimental techniques such as electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy.
