My research focuses on the themes of different topics related to digital well-being and the use of technology. Especially research topics related to well-being of adolescents and young adults in particular, and different aspects of health promotion are close to my heart. I'm interested in studying physical, psychological, mental and social well-being and health in the individual and community level. I'm also interested in developing professionals competences and different kind of methods for health promotion.
In my dissertation I study social networking sites (SNS) use and its effect in well-being. The aim of the research is to identify young adults’ risk profiles at SNS use and evaluate the effects of a health coaching intervention on young adults’ SNS use and psychosocial well-being. I have studied also digital gaming and technology multitasking.
I'm part of the DigiWellbeing research group, which focuses on promoting digital well-being, especially among adolescents and young adults. I have participated in e.g. EU project (QualMent) and in the implementation of various intervention studies. I have comprehensive digital expertise, which have been utilized e.g. in projects and research. I have participated in various strategies and I’m expertise in designing and constructing teaching materials and environments.
