Priyadharshini Perumal
B.E. (Civil Engg), M.S. (Structural & Geotech Engg), Ph.D. (Building Materials Tech)
Associate Professor (Tenure Track)
Sustainable construction Materials (Circular and Green Transition)

Associate Professor with more than 15 years of experience in the research & development, teaching, leadership and project management within academia and industries. Her main focus is upcycling industrial sidestreams into sustainable construction materials, aiming to reduce natural resource depletion in response to growing infrastructure demands. Her work involves developing treatment methods to transform the mining and urban mining wastes into secondary raw materials.
Technically, Dr. Perumal's research extends to enhancing the reactivity of mine tailings for applications such as binders, ceramics, and fine aggregates, as well as recycling demolished concrete—especially finer fractions—as secondary raw materials for concrete production. Recently, she expanded her focus to CO₂ sequestration, the interaction of eco-friendly materials with indoor and outdoor environments, and circular construction methods. In the future, Dr. Perumal would like to explore topics related to circular construction methods, the system approach to sustainability, and the indoor build environment within the scope of construction materials!
In addition to technical expertise, she brings strong project management, intellectual property (IP) management, and business development skills, alongside extensive experience in proposal writing and team supervision. Her background in startup environments has further equipped her with the skills to transition research from concept to commercialization, strategically advancing sustainable construction innovations.
