My research interests arise from our changing everyday life with ubiquitous technologies. I have studied how future language teachers learn to manage complex pedagogical situations while designing for language learning in hybrid environments as a part of their university studies. I am interested in examining learning, teaching and teacher education as multi- and transdisciplinary phenomena, and promoting change by developing pedagogical practices.
I have been able to apply my research interests in the working life as well: At the University of Oulu I have acted as a university lecturer of foreign language didactics (including subject teacher and classroom teacher education and international master's programmes) at the Faculty of Education and Psychology, university teacher in Languages and Communication unit, the English programme at the Faculty of Humanities. I have also acted as a principal lecturer in Interpreting and Linguistic Accessibility at the Humak University of Applied Sciences.
My professional background comes from language teaching. Before my doctoral research, I have worked as a teacher of English and Swedish in vocational education at Vantaa Vocational College Varia, as well as in basic and general upper secondary education.
