Professor Petri Ahokangas Explores Future Business Models for 6G at Vertical Industry Day 2.0

Business Finland’s Vertical Industry Day 2.0, held on January 28, 2025, brought together industry leaders and researchers to explore the impact of advanced connectivity technologies. At the event, the 6G Flagship programme at the University of Oulu was represented by Professor Petri Ahokangas and Head of Research Risto Jurva.

As part of the event, Professor Petri Ahokangas, Director of MAI and a leading expert in future digital business, delivered a talk on the transformative potential of 6G. His presentation highlighted how emerging business models will evolve alongside next-generation technologies, shaping the future of digital ecosystems.

In his presentation, Professor Ahokangas identified key change drivers for 6G business models, including sustainability, value creation, and control points. He also explored various business models for incumbents, newcomers, and disruptors, emphasizing the creation of new ecosystem structures. Additionally, he outlined key scenarios and wild cards that could influence the development of 6G, such as regulation, artificial intelligence, and human-centricity.
