Project description

The Oulu Medical Data Infrastructure (OMDI) project will create a modular, scalable and computationally sufficient data infrastructure for processing sensitive and confidential data, compatible with European developments, and develop regional data and analytics capabilities.

The new operational and service models will expand the secondary use of health and social data, which will accelerate research, development, and innovation activities, increase the competitiveness of the province and business life, investments, and jobs, strengthen local expertise and provide opportunities for developing regional and cross-border cooperation.

The preparation of the information infrastructure is mainly related to the priority areas of the Oulu Health flagship programs of the Oulu Innovation Alliance, which have been prepared in connection with the strategy update by Pohde, the University of Oulu, Oulu University of Applied Sciences, OSAO, the City of Oulu and BusinessOulu. The preparation of the project is also part of the broader Digital Health RDI Center of the Future (OYSTER), which focuses on digital health and accelerates health technologies and services in a unique framework, using and applying the results of 5G and 6G cutting-edge research.
