Application of design standards
The basis of the visual identity must always be taken into account. Following examples present the versatility of the identity.
Regular cards follow the playful style in their looks. No special solutions are needed in the business cards. The logo of the university is printed as negative, and there are five different colors to choose from.
Elegant cards follow the same principles as the playful ones. However, silver foiling should be used as a special effect. The logo made through foiling is the centrepiece of the backside. Background color can be white, grey or blue from the university’s color range.
When implementing the brand on campuses, it must always align with the established visual identity. Carefully consider the surrounding environment and architecture where brand elements will be placed. Ensure that these elements integrate seamlessly and function harmoniously within the space.
The UniOulu Shop is an online shop for branded products and corporate gifts, where you can find items carrying the University of Oulu logo. The eco-friendly products have been chosen to reflect the university's arctic attitude, and are ethically and sustainably produced.

The University of Oulu pullover design competition was held in 2023. Marttiina Vierimaa won the competition with her design called Network. A total of 25 proposals were received during the competition.
Participants were asked to design a pullover that represents some of the characteristics, values, or attitudes of the University of Oulu.
"The pattern of my design represents the network that connects students, former students, graduates, current employees, past employees, and anyone else who has a relationship with the University of Oulu," Vierimaa explains about her design. In addition, the design also includes the university's logo as well as hearts representing the university's values.
